Vaasalainen jazzklubi Doo-Bop Club aloittaa tällä viikolla 30. toimintavuotensa. Klubilla soitetaan live-musiikkia joka perjantai- ja lauantai-ilta syys-, loka- ja marraskuussa.
Luvassa on yhteensä 26 konserttia, ja kauden aikana esiintyy enemmän kansainvälisiä artisteja kuin koskaan aiemmin.
Avausviikonloppuna kuullaan perjantaina 6.9. folkbopia Arto & Antti Järvelän esittämänä sekä palkitun jazzpianistin Tuomo Uusitalon trioa lauantaina 7.9.
Marraskuussa esiintyy Toninho Horta Brasiliasta. Hän on Grammy-palkittu artisti, joka on työskennellyt muun muassa Pat Methenyn ja Herbie Hancockin kanssa ja osallistunut yli tuhanteen levytykseen. Hortaa pidetään yhtenä Brasilian vaikutusvaltaisimmista kitaristeista, laulajista ja lauluntekijöistä.
11.10. klubilla vierailee brasilialainen jazzsaksofonisti Felipe Salles.
Muita kansainvälisiä vieraita Doo-Bop Clubilla tänä syksynä ovat 14.9. liettualainen jazzkitaristi Mindaugas Stumbras italialaisine trioineen ja 18.10. ruotsalainen poplaulaja ja lauluntekijä Frida Braxell.
19.10. esiintyy jazzkollektiivi The Collective Abroad, jossa on muusikoita mm. Tšekistä, Saksasta, Tanskasta ja Ruotsista. Ruotsalais-virolaista jazzkvartetti Håkan Broström Quartetia kuullaan 29.11. ja slovenialainen jazztrumpetisti Vid Šketa astuu estradille 30.11.
Syksyn aikana klubilla esiintyy myös uusia levyjä julkaisseita yhtyeitä, kuten jazzkvartetti Zacharias Holmkvist Quartet 5.10., indie rock -yhtye Crimson Peak 12.10. ja Vaasasta kotoisin oleva soul-laulaja Michael Bleu (Mikko Kanaoja) 25.10.
Yhdistys The Doo-Bop Club ry pyörittää klubia täysin talkoovoimin, ja konsertit järjestetään Svenska kulturfondenin, Nygrénin säätiön, Harry Schaumanin säätiön ja Vaasan kaupungin taloudellisen tuen ansiosta.
